QUANTEC sponsors three

Since this affects children in these countries in particular, and instead of the usual Christmas gifts to the members of our QUANTEC user forum, we have decided this year to sponsor one child each from three different continents.
From now on, we will report every year on how things are going with our three protégés.
QUANTEC & environmental protection
Solar power with photovoltaics
Our objective was, within one year, to produce more electricity with the aid of the sun than we use within our own company. This objective was achieved in the year 2009.
We have installed a system which can produce up to 10 Kilowatts of electricity. This would be enough to power 167 60-Watt bulbs simultaneously.
Since we have now also converted the PCs of all our staff to passively cooled PCs, we also save the electricity for the fans. This is not only very good for the environment, but also for ourselves here in the company:
Without the fans in the many computers, it is now also very quiet in the

Oil heating out – Pellet heating in
The second major environmental contaminator at QUANTEC was the oil heating. This has now been replaced by pellet heating, which has a much better ecological balance, since wood binds CO2 when growing, which is only released again on combustion.
The fact that the company is located directly next to woodland, and our supplier produces, dries and stores the pellets in a facility only 300 m away from us improves the ecological balance even further due to the short distances.
QUANTEC declines subsidies
We find that it is more beneficial to do things under one’s own efforts. We have therefore deliberately declined the state subsidies available for conversion from oil to pellet heating.
